Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Depending on your flight arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Kampala, or if you are already staying the night before in Kampala, Mambo Gorilla Safaris will set out as early as is convenient for you. However, please note that the travel to Murchison Falls National Park will take about four to five hours. This means that if you leave early in the morning, there will be a good chance for you to have an afternoon picnic at the top of the falls. The later you depart, the later you will arrive.
You will be driven toward the northwest route via Masindi town where you will have lunch. You will pass by the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary along the way. The sanctuary has fifteen resident southern white rhinos, and it is the only place in Uganda where there are still wild rhinos. Later in the evening, after your quick visit to the falls, you can check in at your accommodation for dinner, relaxation and a night of good sleep.Day 2: Game drive and boat trip
You will have a very early start today, starting with a cup of tea/coffee to warm yourself up. You will leave at 06:30 for the ferry crossing to the north bank. A full breakfast will be served on your return to your accommodation after the game drive activity. This early morning start will give you the opportunity to see predators returning to their hideouts.
You will take a scenic boat ride along the Victoria Nile which is part of the catchment of water under the falls. From this view, the falls will look very majestic. You will have the opportunity of having close encounters with basking hippos by the Nile bank and the chance to see the huge Nile crocodiles. This area is a haven for birdwatchers and non-birdwatchers alike, since there are about 450 species of birds in the vicinity. This activity will take about three hours. After the boat trip, you will return to your accommodation.Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Kaniyo Pabidi Forest Reserve where you will do some chimpanzee tracking. The chimpanzee sounds reverberate throughout the whole forest. You can see the chimps in their natural habitat. The view is fantastic and the wildlife is very diverse and abundant. The chimps share ninety-eight percent of their DNA with humans, making it a very interesting and unique interaction. After the chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest Reserve, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park and have lunch in Fort Portal along the way. On arrival, you will check in to your accommodation, have dinner, and get some rest to prepare for the next day's adventure.
Day 4: Game drive and boat ride at Kazinga Channel
Day 5: Drive to Bwindi
We depart for Bunyaruguru to enjoy wonderful views of lush tea and fruit plantations, as well as the Rwenzori Mountains. We then continue to pass through Ugandan soil along Kagamba, Ntungamo, and Kabale, which is heralded as the Switzerland part of Africa with its hilly nature and breeze. Finally, we will drive to Bwindi the home to mountain gorillas.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking
Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe
The last day of the safari will end in Entebbe. After breakfast, you will check out and drive back to Kampala with lunch along the way. You will also stop at the equator where you can take some memorable pictures, do shopping, and try Ugandan Rolex (a popular food item). We will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport. This is where your safari will end.
